What is Selling?

Selling is the process in which goods or services are presented to potential customers and they are persuaded or convinced to purchase them for an agreed amount of money. Nowadays, almost all organizations have a sales department and numerous sales professionals. These people are extremely important to companies because they ultimately contact potential customers, present the company's products/services to them and finally persuade them to purchase the goods or services.

There is a misconception surrounding selling, which is that it is pushy, manipulating and deception but this is completely wrong. Selling is all about honesty, listening and helping. If salespeople do not use the latter the will never receive repeat business and establish customer relationships. That is why excellent salespeople are well known for using honesty, listening and helping.

Thus, it is crucial that in order to sell anything that you learn and understand what techniques and strategies will work and get you that all important sale.
