goal setting
Set realistic and achievable goals. If you set them too high and you do not achieve them you could feel like a failure. Set them lower and then when you achieve that goal, set another and another.
Break your goals down into smaller chunks. So that you can see and feel the progress. This will stop you from being overwhelmed by a large goal that can seem impossible when the going gets tough. "A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step" (Chinese proverb.)
I find that adding an achieve by date on goals does not work for me. Rather I work away at my goals and as time goes by I regularly reevaluate whither or not I am doing the right things and going in the right direction. If a time limit works for you then go for it.
If your goals include the purchase of material goods, try not to concentrate on money. Rather what money can get for you. So concentrate on the goods themselves by imagining what it would be like to posses that item. The pursuit of money itself is not motivational enough on its' own.
